In this program, the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum’s exhibition spaces open specially for schools on days when the museum is closed (Mondays). The program, which ties in with general curriculum guidelines, teaches children to enjoy art through encountering and discussing authentic works. In this relaxed environment, children can take time and immerse themselves in learning about and admiring the museum’s cultural assets and artworks with the help of knowledgeable “art communicators.” Museum curators and university professors provide support from the preparatory stage through the actual course. A free shuttle bus service is available for providing transportation from schools to the museum.
