“Traditional+”【vol.5】Voice Surfing Genealogy of Voice

Voice has been the most primitive musical instrument in the human history. In Japan, there are many music pieces in which voice plays a very important role. The program will feature buddhist monks chant “shomyo” , “yokyoku” the narrative songs accompanying Noh plays, folklore songs, and contemporary pop songs. A new song piece commissioned to contemporary composer Sunao Isaji, will be given its world premiere.
