“Shotengai” shopping street as “Hyogengai” expression street!
A modest festival showcasing a variety of creative expression and activity:
1 DAY Performance “Hyogengai” Expression Street now seeking performers!

Using Senju Honcho shopping street (the old Nikko Kaido) as our venue, we’re looking for a range of different forms of expression and creative activities – music, dance, rakugo comic storytelling and folk songs, as well as experimental pursuits falling outside the boundaries of genre. Since the Edo period, this road has been a place where human interaction and culture have taken root. Any creative genre and ability level welcome. If it’s something slight, or you’re not very good, no problem! We’d like to see the creative expression important to you.

About 1 DAY Performance “Hyogengai” Expression Street
Senju Ninjou Art Festival is a platform that welcomes diverse artists, because we see the exchange of values and emotions between people as “ninjou,”or the “milk of human kindness.” During September through October 2021, three art projects including video and music-based initiatives – of which 1 DAY Performance “Hyogengai” Expression Street is one – will be rolled out as the Senju Ninjo Art Festival. With a venue like Senju Honcho shopping street (the old Nikko Kaido) and a wealth of expressive forms on offer, the Hyogengai event will create opportunities for people to encounter people, people to encounter places, and people to encounter art.
