Report Session

Based on the Tokyo Cultural Strategy 2030 (formulated in March 2022), Tokyo Metropolitan Government and Arts Council Tokyo (Tokyo Metropolitan Foundation for History and Culture) aim to strengthen Tokyo’s function as an international art hub by generating creativity that has global appeal, with Metropolitan Tokyo as the center of the domestic and international art scene, and by maximizing Tokyo’s concentration of artistic and cultural resources.

In the first open call of fiscal year 2023, we sent four young arts management professionals to the world’s biggest performing arts festival, the Edinburgh International Festival. In the second open call, two people were sent to Thailand Biennale (Chiang Rai), set in an ancient city with a diverse culture and rich history as well as to Bangkok, while four others went to New York’s Broadway, the hottest entertainment hub in the world, making a total of ten program participants.

For this report session, the ten people selected for the program will be asked to report on their objectives for participating in the program and on their activities at their destinations. There will also be a group discussion with all participants regarding the insights they gleaned from having direct contact with pioneering works from overseas and the international creative frontline, as well as the outcomes of their study visits, such as on-the-ground interviews/exchange and interaction with relevant professionals, etc.

*Photographs, audio, and video footage will be taken during the report session for the purpose of the organizer’s publicity and records.
*After the report session, reports and articles will be made available on the Arts Council Tokyo website.
