Unconscious bias (online lecture (realtime stream))
Lecturer: Atsuko Kurimoto
Facilitator: Yuko Uematsu
No doubt many people are aware they should not judge people or things based on preconceptions or prejudice. However, we unconsciously hold prejudices, preconceptions and unconscious bias. Because it is unconscious, it can influence our actions, behavior, and judgment without us realizing it, and can sometimes lead to harassment. In this lecture we learn the basic concept of unconscious bias and consider how to deal with this based on specific examples.
Stress management (online lecture (realtime stream))
Lecturer: Norikazu Tokumasa
Facilitator: Yuko Uematsu
Being able to manage stress appropriately is very important for sustaining calm judgement abilities, maintaining healthy communication with others, and building a healthy and safe creative environment. In this lecture, in addition to giving an overview of the different types of stress, we introduce “coping” methods used in cognitive behavioral therapy which are designed to reduce overreaction to stress.
Consultation workshop (in person)
Lecturer: Yuko Uematsu
(Consultation lecture)
We will conduct a workshop on harassment consultation based on the contents of the training video. Participants from different organizations form groups and do joint simulation of various cases. Feedback from diverse perspectives will help train participants to develop the ability to foster flexible response skills for the diverse challenges faced in the field.
*People who wish to take this lecture must first watch the Consultation lecture video.

Assertive communication (online lecture (realtime stream))
Lecturers: Lisa Fukuoka, Seri Kurosawa
Facilitator: Yuko Uematsu
Assertive communication means expressing your own feelings and opinions honestly, frankly, and on equal terms while respecting the feelings of others. In this lecture, we introduce the basic thinking underlying assertive communication before looking at case studies of “common occurrences” on the creative frontlines to help us think about assertive approaches together.
Practical sessions by field (Training video)
We introduce examples of harassment prevention initiatives that have been put into practice in real creative settings and provide useful information that can be applied to viewers’ own initiatives. In this session we will introduce two examples: action4cinema/The Association for the Establishment of a Japanese Version of CNC (France’s government-backed oversight body, the Centre National du Cinema et de l’Image Animee), a group working towards harassment prevention in the film sector; and Japan Performing Arts Solidarity Network, which published a performing arts related harassment prevention guidebook (version 1.0) in May 2024.
