This is a course in which participants learn the basic knowledge and skills useful when engaging in overseas performances and exhibitions, work-in-residence programs and international coproductions, etc. It provides participants with the opportunity to understand shared global challenges in the arts and culture sector and strengthen their international perspective.

Ideal for:
-People who are involved in international projects/activities or who would like to be in future
-People who want to learn what to be mindful of when working with oversees artists etc.
-People interesting in shared global challenges in the arts and culture sector

  1. Useful knowhow
    Lecturer: Kensaku Fukui
    Interviewer: Takaharu Uera, Yuko Mohri
    In this session participants will learn the requisite basic knowledge and points to be mindful of regarding contract execution, etc. for engaging in arts and culture-related projects/activities and international coproductions overseas. Featuring guest producers from the performing arts field and artists from the field of art as interviewers, this session will instruct participants in specific practices and know-how while introducing examples of actual international activities and projects.
  2. Learning about shared global challenges: Arts and culture and climate change
    Lecturer: Hiroko Oshima, Roger McDonald
    Facilitator: Naoko Horiuchi
    As we face a climate crisis with average global temperatures breaking new records, there is a growing movement among arts-related organizations and artists, primarily in Europe and the US, to tackle climate change. Featuring lecturers who have been involved in various research and activities both in Japan and overseas concerning the relationship between arts and culture and environmental issues, we will introduce the latest international trends, and also think about what each of us can do as practitioners and leaders of arts and culture-related activities.
