【SCOT】
Waseda Shogekijo, a theatrical troupe lead by Tadashi Suzuki, was established in Shinjuku, Tokyo, in 1966. In 1976 the company moved to the village of Toga in Toyama Prefecture, and changed its name to SCOT. Many of SCOT’s most famous productions such as Dionysus and Greetings from the Edge of the Earth originated in Toga. Their fame as a modern Japanese theatrical troupe has spread overseas, and many countries around the world have invited them to perform. To date they have put on productions in 84 cities spanning 31 nations. They have also taken part in international collaborative performances such as their joint production of King Lear with the Moscow Art Theatre, Electra with Korea’s Arko Arts Theater, and Cinderella with the Shanghai Theatre Academy.
