Outline

A fall festival that includes beautiful lights, stage programs, and the tastes of autumn. World-famous lighting designer Motoko Ishii has produced a brand new combination of Japan’s “Soene” (Green energy) technology and design in a series of beautiful new lighting fixtures. The redesigned fountain plaza of Ueno Park is filled with light, sounds, and tastes. Tokyo National Museum, National Museum of Nature and Science, National Museum of Western Art, Ueno Zoological Gardens, and Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum cooperate on this event. The four Tohoku prefectures, affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake, also participate in this event. During the day, children ride aerobic bikes and use gigantic fans to produce new types of “Soene” via wind and human power, allowing them to learn about energy as they play. In the evening, the beautiful lightings and various stage programs bring a new type of Tokyo festival that everyone can enjoy.
