Outline

Document Posthuman Theatre was created in response to what Alexandre Kojève calls “the animalization of mankind.” A joint production of Gekidan Kaitaisha and the Polish avant-garde Teatr Cinema group, it was performed in Tokyo in 2011, and in Germany and Poland in 2012. Document Posthuman Theatre is the end result of these efforts; a symposium consisting of a performance, a viewing, and lectures.

Profile

Gekidan Kaitaisha
Formed in 1985. They have performed Tokyo Ghetto and Bye-Bye at the Tokyo Performing Arts Festival, Erokaz (Zagreb), and the Laokoon Summer Festival (Hamburg).
In 2004 they began their Dream Regime project, an international project to research the hidden, multilayered, and mobile history of various cultural spheres, taking them to Wales, Jordan, Brazil, East Timor, the U.K, the U.S.A, Germany, Australia, Denmark, Poland and Japan. In 2011, their international project Posthuman Theatre was announced in Tokyo with the Theatre Cinema group, and in 2012 they took it on a four-city tour through the Netherlands.
