ROVO, a musical group based in Tokyo, will give a musical and video performance in collaboration with British-based international musicians System 7. This performance will fuse music with computer graphics that utilize the unique animation style of Japan. The project was born out of music inspired by Osamu Tezuka’s famous work HINOTORI, and is called Phoenix Rising. As the name “Phoenix” implies, it deals with themes of revival and rebirth.
Composed of Yuji Katsui (Vln), Seiichi Yamamoto (G), Yasuhiro Yoshigaki (Dr/Per), Youichi Okabe (Dr/Per), Jin Harada (B), and Tatsuki Masuko (Syn). They create new musical works with a unique sensibility and skilled artistry. Since 2001, they have been giving experimental art performances that combine music with computer graphics; and have been well-received not only in Japan, but also in the United States and Europe.
A musical group formed in 1991 by two artists Steve Hillage and Miquette Giraudy, who have been active since the 1970s. They achieved huge popularity in Europe, the United States, and Asia, and continue to perform across the world. In 2007 they announced a much-talked-about project inspired by Osamu Tezuka’s HINOTORI.
