Outline

Tsutomu Mizukami’s literary work “Bunna, Come Down From The Tree”
was staged at Theatre Tram by twenty-one SAC company members plus backup dancers in an adaptation written and conceived by troupe leader, Akemi Watanabe. Marking its 6th performance at Theatre Tram, the work is an established Setagaya Public Theatre-affiliated production.
Under the theme of relationships in life and the preciousness of existence, the story questions the meaning of life through various situations encountered by Bunna the frog. This year’s performance featured many new company members performing with the troupe for the first time. Troupe members currently taking a break from stage activities had been given work elsewhere such as lobby duties so that they could still be a part of the production even if they weren’t performing. The production’s principle audience comprises current and former students of special needs schools and people involved with those institutions, but this performance also drew theatergoers attracted by the original work.
