What we do

For A Clean, Well-Lighted Place

  • Organization : Gettingontheflyingsaucerists
  • Section : Artistic and creative activity in Tokyo
  • Type of Grant Program : Single
  • Art Forms : Theater

This work from the two-year-old theater project Gettingontheflyingsaucerists took a close-up look at language and words. While incorporating a multi-faceted approach to language, for example presenting words by writer Kohei Kasai as stage design elements, and weaving poems created by project members in workshops given by poet Ryouta Yamada into the performance, this was theater searching for ideas on how to live better, expressed through the story of characters wandering aimlessly around the streets.
Writing/direction and sound : Kishodai Kageyama
Performers : Kiyosuyonesuku, Aoi Tagami and Hiyorigeta

Formed in 2008 as sons wo: and renamed in 2018, this theater project regularly stages works by Kishodai Kageyama, who divides his time between the two cities of Tokyo and Hamamatsu. In 2013 he took part in the Festival / Tokyo13 Emerging Artists Program. Recent works include “Birth of Happy Islands” (2019) and “City III” (2017). He received the 17th Aichi Arts Foundation Drama Award in 2017.
