Profile

Nikasan
With its theme of “visualizing a contemporary premonition of fear,” this performing arts collective was launched in 2017 by artist/ theater director/photographer Arata Mino, who creates works based primarily on performance art, photography and image media. He takes small gestures made by the performer’s body and recorded in photos and videos to extract and create “stories of fear” within a political and social context. Characteristic of Mino’s work is the way he visualizes and analyzes “others who are not here” through the medium of photography and video media, in order to express a contemporary “premonition of fear.”
