Shigeki Nakano + Frankens staged a partially modified version of this work, which premiered in May 2015 with Shigeki Nakano + Werewolves (the winners of an under-25 audition).Using the motif of a robot (as well as an “idol” pop figure and a therapist) this work explores the difference between being a robot and being human. In today’s Japan, are there higher expectations from robots or humans in terms of work, one of the so-called ‘Three Major Duties” of a Japanese citizen? In a world in which robots are getting closer to being human and the robotization of people is seen as desirable, this work looks at the implications for the resulting intersection.
