  • Type of Grant Program : Single
  • Art Forms : Music

Outline

Due to concerns over the outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19) and in consideration of the health and safety of participants and staff members, this program was canceled.

Taking the theme of the Greek myth of Amore e Psiche, the producers of this show were inspired by pasticcio or pastiche (a traditional method of creating opera from reworked existing operatic works) and the Singspiel style of opera, assembling these elements with Baroque music to create a new stage spectacle, a Gesamtkunstwerk-like combination of performing art genres. Under the direction of opera singer Tadashi Miroku, this extravaganza incorporates and fuses elements of Noh, an art embodying the spiritual cornerstone of the Japanese, as well as Japanese dance and music.
