For its summer production in 2020, FUKAIPRODUCE-hagoromo, known for its unique blend of singing, dancing and theater called “myosicals”, trialed lip-syncing for virtually an entire performance including dialogue, with a focus on the main element of song. This resulted in a more physical piece, with choreography made harder by lip syncing, and live vocals used to great effect during the drama.

Founded in 2004 by actress Junko Fukai.
The troupe performs uniquely unusual musicals (“myosicals”) by writer, director, and composer Yukinosuke Itoi.
“Myosical” is a coined word meaning “uncommon musical,” with the word “myo” in Japanese carrying the meaning of “unusual” as well as “indescribably beautiful,” two qualities which together exemplify the feel of the troupe’s style.
Their shows feature a series of 15-minute musical scenes reminiscent of a pop music concept album.
