Outline

The milestone of Japanese animation “AKIRA” (Directed by Katsuhiro Otomo). “Symphonic Suite AKIRA”, the music written for this film has been gaining global fame and popularity since its release more than 30 years ago. This stage will present the unique sound world of AKIRA with sounds crossing over Balinese gigantic bamboo ensemble “Jegog”, electric instruments and human voices. Audiences will also experience the “hypersonic effect” that activates brain function for beauty and sensation when audible and inaudible high frequency sound co-exist. This effect is the discovery of the composer Shoji Yamashiro, also known as scientist Dr. Tsutomu Oohashi. (He received Special Achievement Award at Japan Media Arts Festival.) To be performed by Geinoh Yamashirogumi.

【Geinoh Yamashirogumi Kouen Jikkou Iinkai (the “Committee”)】
This Committee is mostly responsible for the planning of performances of Geinoh Yamashirogumi, who has realized the “multi musicality” first ever in the world with 80 lines of ethnic performing arts, as well as for the planning of their creative activities in theatrical spaces to leverage their capacity to fuse tradition and modern, and arts and science. The Committee also makes financial supports for the success of their performances. These efforts, on a combined basis, aim at contributing to the creation of urban life with high level of amenity and to the development and enhancement of urban culture.
