It was ten years last year since we lost YAMAMOTO KIYOKAZU, our beloved playwright and director. This year we pick up his work and inspect and think over his view as ‘ theater of common mass’ once again. Theater RAKU, well-known as a unique senior theater, whose outstanding performances have attracted and been loved by many people both in Japan and abroad, perform Yamamoto’s Midsummer Night Dream ( the original by Shakespeare ). You will enjoy Asakusa Opera Oldies, nursery rhymes, lullabies, popular songs and also our original music.

【Theater RAKU】
Theater RAKU is a senior theater directed by Ryuzanji Show. It started as a senior workshop Rakujuku, and we enjoy our 24th anniversary this year. He has arranged many works of Shakespeare’s, Chekhov’s, Terayama Shuji’s and so on and made enthusiastic Japanese historical musicals. We participated in Victoria International Drama Festival in 2013 in Canada and won the Best Ensemble Award. These past years, we were invited to Taiwan Drama Festival etc. and we enjoy good reputation overseas as well. Our motto is ‘ When people watch happy things, they become happy and cheerful’.
