Outline

In this concert, contemporary vocal music specialist Takashi Matsudaira tackles percussionist-accompanied duo pieces by the two masters of 20th century music, Xenakis and Cage, and the latest electronics-incorporating works by three Japanese composers.

Profile

Takashi Matsudaira
Matsudaira graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts and completed graduate studies at the same institution. He has premiered over 150 works as a specialist in contemporary vocal music. He has performed at the Suntory Hall Summer Festival, Composium, National Theatre and New National Theatre, Tokyo, amongst others. CD releases comprise “MONO=POLI” (which won the Agency for Cultural Affairs (ACA) National Arts Festival Excellence Award in the Recordings category in 2010), as well as “UTAKATA” and “Extended Voices,” two CDs released under the Teion Duo unit name. His book “Karlheinz Stockhausen” was published in 2019, garnering the 32nd Music Pen Club Awards. Matsudaira was awarded the 19th Keizo Saji Prize. He teaches at Seitoku University, Bunkyo University and The University of Tokyo.
