Outline

The Duet created by François Chaignaud, a contemporary dancer-choreographer based in France, and Akaji Maro, the legend of Butoh.
“Gold Shower” is one and only performance such as the dance which beyond each other’s dance backgrounds, age, country, view of life or death and gender views.
Both of them take young artists as assistants, and it is premiered in France in 2020. it admired as an international future co-production.
Due to the Corona disaster, While the subsequent European tour was canceled, Chaignaud and Maro tried to develop their dance for the Japan tour with zoom and others system .

Profile

DAIRAKUDAKAN
Established in 1972 by Akaji Maro, Dairakudakan has already presented many works, in which, Maro collects and reconstructs the forgotten “Miburi-teburi” (i.e., human gestures) on the principle of “Temp-tenshiki” (i.e., being born in this world is a great talent itself). In 1982, we were the first Butoh company to tour France and the U.S., making a strong impact and spreading “Butoh” far and wide. Many dancers, actors, and artists from Japan and abroad participate in the Summer Intensive butoh camp every year, and exchanges across genres are actively conducted.
