A two-person exhibition was held by artists Asako Ishizaki and Konomi Kobayashi.
Kobayashi is an artist who creates works that stir the imagination from small stories that are less than stories, while Ishizaki’s work uses sculpture, video and performance, starting from the expression of the strange reality she feels when she looks at a landscape. In their joint research of Shibuya prior to planning the exhibition, Kobayashi mentioned his recent interest in his dog’s tail resembling a palm tree, and looked for ways to make it “look like a ____”, while Ishizaki focuses on the noisy elements of the environment, steep slopes and gaps that are just barely accessible, and on the city itself. Ishizaki focuses on the city as well as the body. The two sides’ eyes are mixed up along the way, making it a truly scrambled experience. The exhibition was a place where Kobayashi, who looks for palm tree-like features in the landscape, and Ishizaki, who searches for spots that involve physical sensations, like a skateboarder finding a place to do tricks on the street, develop their moves, which are disparate in action but somehow mixed together.
