PORT held a discussion program bringing together artists who deal in physical expression to share and hone their creative methods and processes.
The program comprised four sessions each hosted by PORT’s principal members, TAKUMICHAN, Risako Okuizumi, Yuki Kobayashi, Takuya Takemoto, Saori Hara and Arata Mino. All are young performance artists, stage writers and choreographers in their late twenties to early thirties actively working in Japan and overseas. Their differing professional perspectives in fields including dance, theater, art, photography and architecture were applied for delving deep into how to connect performance and creative activity itself with society, and for exploring individual activities in depth. With each session lasting an average of five hours, participants were able to take their time in discussion.
PORT
PORT is a platform whose main objective is to create opportunities for peer review and discourse between artists involved in both performance art and the performing arts. The organization was named PORT as an acronym for “performance or theory,” the perspectives on which its activities are built.
