Outline

A bass trombone recital by Kazunari Ozeki.
By performing original works written for bass trombone as well as those that were not, this project looked at the question of what constitutes ideal music. The aim of the project was the creation of a multi-faceted and innovative musical space, for example featuring other performances between songs, and image/video projection.

Profile

Kazunari Ozeki
Bass trombone performer. Born in Tokyo’s Machida City, graduated from the Faculty of Music at Tokyo University of the Arts.
As well as his principal work performing with orchestras and brass ensembles, he engages in a wide range of projects including planning, arrangement, outreach activities and teaching wind instruments. He has previously organized “Chiasme” in 2018 aimed at producing a concert as a comprehensive art-based work fusing not only brass instruments but also visual art and literature. In 2021 his staging of “Between Words and Music,” an open call project aimed at students for “GEIDAI ARTS in Marunouchi 2021: Art Vaccines ©” garnered the Kengo Kuma Award. Currently enrolled in the Tokyo University of the Arts’ Graduate School where he majors in instrumental music, conducting research on wind and percussion music.
