Outline

Description: Nine performances by several artists and groups including baritone saxophonists, and a baritone saxophone workshop with students and working adults, with members of Tokyo Chutei Iki serving as instructors.

Main artists who appeared in the performances: Tokyo Chutei Iki, Yoshihide Otomo (Small Stone Baritone Ensemble), Shibuya Takeshi Orchestra, Shibusashraizu Theatre, Hirobumi Suzuki (FouHERO 5), The Last Day of Winter (Yoko Ueno, Tomohiko Gondo, Kazumasa Asami), Kor Serrata (Naomi Iwasaki, Karin Irusu, Reki Shibata and others), tah! (Akira Mizutani, Tsuneo Imahori, Hiroshi Suzuki), and others.

Profile

【Tokyo Chutei Iki】
Formed in early 2000 with only 10 baritone saxophonists, led by composer Akira Mizutani, the group has released 10 CDs and 4 DVDs. In 2006, the group visited Europe for the first time to record a live performance for BBC Radio 3 and to perform at the EFG London Jazz Festival. After that, they toured abroad to Belgium, Spain and other countries. In Japan, they have performed at Summer Sonic, Peter Barakan’s Live Magic and others, and have organised the Tokyo International Baritone Saxophone Festival since 2014.
