In addition to the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Band and the Hachioji Volunteer Fire Corps Band, which are popular with Tokyo residents, the second edition of this tournament featured local Hachioji City elementary and junior high school bands, as well as leading marching bands from Hachioji High School, Nihonbashi Junior High School and others. Visitors were also wowed by a spectacular parade from SOKA Renaissance Vanguard, which has won the Grand Prix in the national championships, as well as the Prime Minister’s Award a record seventeen times.
This two-hour marching festival on a four-lane road with traffic restrictions over a course of 1km or so was run by around 400 local residents as a “DIY” local event, attracting around 10,000 spectators.
