We are a group comprising members who studied in France at the same time, and our ideal is for Ensemble activities to act as a bridge between France as well as the rest of Europe/the world, and the world of the saxophone in Japan. Although Vincent DAVID’s trip to Japan did not materialize due to the coronavirus pandemic, this project turned out to be a concert expanding the possibilities of the saxophone, taking full advantage of production and sound only possible through remote collaborative performance with Vincent.
Performers: Haruka INOUE, Nozomi SAKAI, Miki ISOGAI, Taewook AHN, Yuki TANAKA, Tomotaka NOHARA, Kyoko NEMOTO, Makoto HONDO, Mariko TAKESHITA
Special guest: Vincent DAVID
Impetus Saxophone Ensemble
Formed by a group of young saxophonists who studied in France at the same time and are now active in various parts of Japan such as Kanto, Kansai, Tokai, Hokuriku, and Okinawa. Impetus have a broad repertoire ranging from classical to contemporary music and a flexible performance style unbound by set configuration – aspects lacking in conventional saxophone ensembles – which allows them to perform as everything from duos and quartets to nine-person ensembles; they also actively collaborate with artists from overseas. ALSO PUBLISHING 「THE SAX」 is currently running the group’s series, “Recommendations for Study Abroad.”
