Outline

This work likens the feeling of belief people have to a thread.
Through repeated dialog between Ayato Watanabe, the organizer as well as writer/director and the cast (Kyotaro Gan, Mayumi Tamura, Toraco, Ryu Nakazawa) and by recognition of the thoughts of others and of the self, Watanabe has challenged himself to theatrical creation with the objective of dovetailing with the thoughts of the individual audience member through his work. This one-act dialogue-oriented piece, which uses the small space of SCOOL to resemble a room in an apartment, was performed a total of five stages from June 16-18 2023.

Profile

Ayato Watanabe
Born in Aichi Prefecture in 1992.
After leaving the agency he belonged to for ten years as an actor, in 2020 Watanabe set his sights on engaging in performances as a writer and director in the wake of writing and directing for the first time under the supervision of Hideto Iwai. After that, he studied under Yohei Hosokawa of horobite, working as assistant director on five works. “Beautiful thread” (with scriptwriting, direction, and performance by Watanabe) was performed at SCOOL in 2023. By unraveling the essence of life’s difficulties stemming from one’s own and others’ personal experiences and projecting it onto the conversational exchange of contemporary dialog-oriented theater, the goal is to create works that create awareness from people’s inherent unconsciousness.
