Outline

Along with the traditional Japanese performing arts of Noh and Kyogen, this performance series showcases contemporary works featuring Noh performers, dancers, and a range of musical instruments and songs.
In addition to the Noh play “Tsunemasa” and the Kyogen piece “Shimizu,” this year’s performance reproduced the creative dance drama “Ame ni mo makezu,” based on the life of Kenji Miyazawa, giving a real sense of the diversity of Noh-based expression.

Koganei Takigi-noh
Since it was launched in 1979, local Koganei volunteers have carried on the planning and holding of Takigi Noh performances.
Koganei citizen, the Noh performer Reijiro Tsumura, has appeared in Koganei Takigi Noh performances since the first event. In recent years he has co-performed some ambitious new works with guest artists from diverse genres.
