Tokyo Koenji Awa-Odori Promotional Board
Awaodori, which developed as a traditional performing art of Tokushima, is held as the local event Tokyo Koenji Awaodori every summer in Koenji, Suginami-ku. As well as linking Awaodori’s history to the future, the Promotional Board’s activities are designed to strengthen the roots of the dance as an example of regional culture. As well as widely canvassing for human resources amongst Awaodori aficionados in order to implement year-round performance and experience programs and promote the spread of Awaodori through performances in multiple regions in Japan and overseas, the organization hopes its activities will contribute to personal development and community-building.
