This performance is a project that aims to expand connections between butoh and dance . Also, focusing on developing new genres in the dance world. Butoh dancer Daisuke Yoshimoto and Kohei Wakaba, and contemporary dancer Mana Kawamura and Aoi Kagaya will perform in a one-hour piece entitled “A Body”. The stage director is a butoh dancer Fumihiro Yoshino. Three performances were held from September 29 to October 1, 2023, with a workshop led by Wakaba and Kawamura on September 30.
Kohei Wakaba
He has been a member of the Butoh company Dairakudakan for about 20 years. In addition to performing in the company’s works, he has appeared in “Kinkakuji” and “Hoichi without ears” by Amon Miyamoto, “Kaisei” by Juro Kara, and “Daigyakuso” by Masaaki Akabori, among others. His work “To Those Who ain’t damn nobody” won various awards and was invited to the Hong Kong Dance Exchange, Kyoto Arashiyama Art Festival, and others. He is also perform as “Neko Sogi,” a Tokyo Metropolitan Government-certified Heaven Artist.
