Outline

Local performing arts are an irreplaceable part of local culture, and their
inheritance and development is one of the challenges facing municipalities.
The Tama River is the biggest symbol of the Tama region, and the local
authorities in the basin – Tabayama Village, Okutama Town, Hino City,
Fuchu City, Kosuge Village, Tama City, Inagi City, Chofu City and Komae
City – are working together to hold the Tama River Basin Folk Performing
Arts Festival, in which local performing arts compete with each other. The
aim is to promote exchanges in the basin and to revitalise the respective
municipalities.
In FY2023, the Tabayama Village Cultural Heritage Preservation Society
will perform a “Shishimai” lion dance, the Unazawa Shishi-ren
(Shimonakagumi lion dance) will perform a “Shishimai” lion dance, the Hino
City Matsuri-bayashi federation will perform “Hayashi” music, Musashi
Kokufu Taiko Kokufu Mutsumikai will perform “Wadaiko” music, the Sangamura Yanagyu Zinja Ujikochu will perform “Shishimai” music, the Omaru Hayashi Preservation Society will perform “Hayashi” music, The Chofu City Local Performing Arts Festival Hayashi Preservation Society Tobitakyu Hayashi Ren performed “Hayashi”, and the Koadachi Hayashi Preservation Society performed “Ohayashi”.

Tamagawaryuuiki Kyoudogeinou Festival Zikkouiinkai
Tamagawaryuuiki Kyoudogeinou Festival Zikkouiinkai was formed in 2000, the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the city of Komae, by the Raft Race Executive Committee to further deepen exchanges between Kosuge Village, Tabayama Village and Okutama Town in Yamanashi Prefecture, where exchanges had been taking place through the Komae Ancient Cup Tama River Raft Race, a summer tradition in Komae. The committee was established with the aim of furthering exchanges between Kosuge Village, Tabayama Village and Okutama Town in Yamanashi Prefecture. The local performing arts of each participating municipality are performed and introduced at the Tama River Basin Local Performing Arts Festival, and local specialities of each region are also introduced as a product exhibition in an effort to promote the attractiveness of the region.
