Although Gendai Souzou’s activities revolve around works of contemporary music, its programming also attaches importance to the passing-on and development of works of great musical value. For this concert, the ensemble held an open call for works with the aim of expanding its repertoire, and of boosting and revitalizing the creative drive of contemporary composers. A work by young Chinese composer Chenxuan Xu was selected and had its world premiere at this concert.
