An international film festival specializing in short animated films created using stop-motion (stop motion) techniques such as puppet animation, paper cutout animation, and clay animation. The main objectives of the festival are to discover and nurture new talent, and to foster the next generation through exchanges among audiences, production companies, and people who support stop-motion animation.
For the international competition, Anita Kiri, director from Norway, Tsuneo Goda, Yuichi Ito, Mari Miyazawa, Hoji Tsuchiya, and other leading Japanese stop-motion animation artists will serve on the international jury. The screening program will feature the largest time-lapse studio in Japan, “Dwarf” and the award-winning “TECARAT” studio, Japanese time-lapse master Kihachiro Kawamoto, Katsuo Takahashi, who has been active since the dawn of time-lapse animation, popular foreign feature films, and feature films that have not been distributed in Japan, and other films that can only be seen here. Workshops for beginners and experienced filmmakers will be held to provide hands-on production experience.
