Hanaka’s objective is to bring theater to a new audience.
Currently, audiences for theater at small theaters mainly comprise so-called “theater folk,” and their link to other industries is weak. Breaking with the existing situation, Hanaka gives theatrical performances targeted at those who are interested in the arts but have never seen a play, such as young people involved in the fashion industry, art, and music.
Through this project, the aim is for artists from numerous genres to develop an interest in theater, leading to the emergence of new theater that is not bound by traditional methods, and creating opportunities for a closer relationship between society and theater.
kiki Hanaka
Born in Osaka in 1988. Hanaka began her acting career in 2008 as a member of Gekidan Kodomokyojin. She appeared in almost all of the troupe’s productions until it disbanded in 2022, and also handled costume and music.
She won an acting award at the 2012 CoRich Theater Arts Festival. In recent years she has expanded her professional activities as a costume stylist for theater and movies. She works on the creation of engaging and genre-less theater that overturns stereotypes of conventional theater, as well as projects that encourage development in the arts.
