The Yasunari Kawabata Trilogy
The Yasunari Kawabata Trilogy was launched in 2012 by Mirei Yamagata (Tokyo), Liang Yen Liu (Taipei) and Seiji Nozoe (Tokyo). Its aim is to present stage performances of short stories by Yasunari Kawabata in different countries, and to overcome historical, cultural and political barriers and develop unique artistic styles through intercultural exchange. The members of the company come from Japan, Taiwan and China. Thus far they have presented “One Arm” (Seiji Nozoe, Tokyo/Taipei performances), “The Boy” (Liang Yen Liu, Tokyo performance) and “Crystal Illusions” (Mirei Yamagata, Taipei performance). In spring 2014, they presented all three works at the same time at Komaba Agora Theater.
