What we do

Sangatsu in SHIBAURA HOUSE

  • Organization : Sangatsu
  • Section : None
  • Type of Grant Program : Single
  • Art Forms : Music

Outline

Since 2014, Sangatsu has been holding music workshops (at venues including Catalyst BA in Futako-Tamagawa and Yamaguchi Center for Arts and Media) based on the approach that even if someone has no experience of performing on a musical instrument, they can still make music by using a few simple rules to produce a sound. The initiative has been further refined in 2015, soliciting the participation of a wide range of people in a series of 4-6 workshops over the course of the year, with the aim of holding a performance/demonstration by non-musicians.

Profile

Formed in 1997 in Tokyo. Debuted with “Sangatsu”(2000) produced by Jim O’Rourke and released five albums. Launched a kind of open platform project called “Catch & Throw” and declared that they would renounce the copyrights of their future pieces in January 2012.
