Workshop to develop street performers
The goal of the Street Artist Academy is to create street performers who will delight passers-by and transform the atmosphere of each district. In addition, it aims to support performers who want to take their performance skills to a new level.
With a view to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and Paralympics Games and beyond, Tokyo Metropolitan Government has drafted the Tokyo Branding Strategy, in order to establish the “Tokyo brand.” Now that the eyes of the world are upon us, there is a growing need to create art that breaks out of the confines of the theater and uses the metropolis itself as a stage, as people pass by. Street artists add an artistic dimension to our cityscapes and can bring joy and excitement to people visiting a district more easily than any other art form.
We look forward to welcoming all artists who want to thrill audiences on the stage of our metropolitan streets.
