Tokyo Caravan in Akita

Artists who represent the great cultures of Tokyo, Akita and Kumamoto will meet in Akita

Tokyo Caravan is one of the cultural programs comprising the official Cultural Olympiad for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Tokyo Caravan in Akita is a two-day event to be held at Dome Theater, Akita Furusato Village on Saturday, February 16 and Sunday, February 17, 2019.
Based on the concept of new expression created by the “cultural mingling” of a diverse array of artists, Tokyo Caravan Director Hideki Noda and artists who represent the great cultures of Tokyo, Akita and Kumamoto will gather in Akita to present two days of performances that can only be seen at this event. Additionally, in the lead-up to this event we’ll give special public access to the workshops where these performances take shape. On Saturday, December 8 and Sunday, 9, 2018 you can experience for yourself the on-the-spot creation of “cultural mingling” between the artists, and the new forms of expression it generates!
This roving cultural movement has generated a host of thrills and excitement in its travels to Tokyo, Rio de Janeiro, Tohoku, Kyoto, Kumamoto, Toyota and Kochi. Enjoy the trip as it makes further strides in Akita.
