Program for first-time museum goers encouraging them to think of museums as a fun and exciting place

The Museum Starter Pack is designed to help participants explore and enjoy the nine museums in and around Ueno Park. Once participants have learnt how to use their packs, they will set out with a special Art Communicator guide. For all sessions, participants can choose between the “Exhibition Appreciation Course” and the “Children’s Architecture Tour.”

Course introduction

Exhibition Appreciation Course
Once participants have received and learnt how to use their Museum Starter Pack, they will visit an ongoing exhibition at Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum with “Art Communicators”.

Children’s Architecture Tour
Once participants have received and learnt how to use their Museum Starter Pack, they’re ready for the Children’s Architecture Tour! Children will take a tour of the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum, designed by the master of modern Japanese architecture, Kunio Mayekawa.

Students (elementary school to high school) who are taking part in the iUeno program for the first time and do not have Museum Starter Packs

How to apply

Please fill out the application form on the official website.

*To be decided by lottery if oversubscribed.
*Children may participate in the Exhibition Appreciation Course and Children’s Architecture Course alone. Parents/guardians are required to participate in a guidance session.
*One application only per scheduled session. Subsequent applications will automatically be invalidated.
