Special art appreciation classes in a relaxed environment

In this program, the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum’s exhibition rooms open specially for school classes! The program, which ties in with general curriculum guidelines, teaches children to enjoy art through encountering and discussing authentic works. Children can take time and immerse themselves in learning about and admiring the museum’s cultural assets and artworks with the help of knowledgeable “Art Communicators.” In this relaxed environment, museum curators and university professors provide support from the preparatory stage through the actual course. A free shuttle bus service is available for providing transportation from schools to the museum.

Participants

Nursery, kindergartens, elementary/junior high/high and special needs schools in Tokyo
– 2–3 schools per day
– requests accepted on a per-class basis
– includes special needs classes
– only older nursery and kindergarten students accepted

Transportation

Free shuttle bus to and from Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum
*We may ask you to come by walking if the school is located within walking distance.

*To be decided by lottery if oversubscribed. Applicants will be notified of the results within 2 weeks of each deadline.
