Ueno! Art Researcher

This is a two-day program to enjoy the cultural spots of Ueno Park. Participants explore art through a two-step process of online and real-world activities. Step 1 of this blended learning program – a form of learning combining two different methods – comprises group dialogue while viewing art online, while Step 2 involves encountering the real thing at a cultural spot.

*[Step 2] entails multiple sessions held between 10:00 – 16:30 at Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum.

Target grades and possible participation times
Elementary school 1st -3rd graders: (Morning) 10:30 – 11:30
Elementary school 4th – 6th graders – junior high school students: (Afternoon) 13:30 – 14:30

Capacity
80 people/40 pairs of children with their parent/guardian
*Junior high school students and high school students may participate on their own.
*To be decided by lottery if oversubscribed.

Participation fee
Free
*In Step 2 participants may need to pay for expenses such as exhibition and admission fees, etc. for the various cultural facilities.

Conditions for participation
– This program will be conducted using web conferencing app Zoom. Participants will need a stable environment for internet use, and a laptop PC (Windows, Mac etc.) or tablet such as iPad.
– During the program, children will look at and learn about onscreen artworks, and have face-to-face interaction with other children and Art Communicators. Please use a PC, iPad or other tablet rather than a smartphone to make the screen easier to see.
– Each participant will need a PC, iPad etc. with an inbuilt camera and microphone during the program. If your device does not have a camera or microphone, please ensure you have a separate web camera or similar.

*The application period for (3), (4) has been extended.

*Those who participate in both Step 1 and 2 will be given the special adventure tool, Museum Starter Pack.
