The plants, water, wind, earth, people, and all sorts of living things color the landscape of the island. Dyes are created by making use of these life forces. We’ll walk around the island looking for plants and other materials, looking, touching and smelling them before tearing them up and putting them on to simmer in this dyeing workshop by Aiko Yamamoto, an artist who uses all five senses to perceive the island’s landscape through the process of natural dyeing.
