Make, sing, walk, dance: it’s a “big catch”!

Let’s put together a Kuruto original matsuri (festival) with the two musicians from Tenniscoats! What sort of matsuri will it be? Everybody from adults to children will be excited and raring to go. Wasshoi! (heave-ho!)

Come on down to help with matsuri preparation!

Saturday, December 3, 2022, 9:00 -16:00 (No registration require)

  1. -Morning walk: Keep your ears and eyes open!
    (Assemble at Kuruto at 9:00 for a 9:10 departure)
    We take a walk around Kouzushima with the two members of Tenniscoats to find material for handmade musical instruments and the omikoshi (portable shrine).
  2. -Let’s put the finishing touches to the Kuruto Mikoshi, and make musical instruments and costumes
    (13:00 – 16:00 Participants are free to come and go as they please)
    We will decorate the Kuruto Mikoshi and make costumes for the following day. Participants are welcome to bring materials. If there is something you would like to use, please bring it along.

Anyone can join in at any time! (Only people with reservations for the special live performance will be given priority)

Timetable
10:00 Opening
10:30 Kuruto Mikoshi singing and playing
We shoulder the handmade omikoshi and play our handmade musical instruments
12:00 Lunch break
13:00 Have fun dancing a winter bon-odori
Everyone joins in dancing to the Tairyo-bushi (a folk song praying for/celebrating a big catch at sea), the Kouzu Serenade, and more
14:00 Otanoshimi-kai (lasts around one hour)
16:00 Special live performance by Tenniscoats (lasts around 30 minutes, priority given to people with reservations)
This is a special live performance that can only be heard on this day. Come to Kuruto to experience a sound only possible in live performance! (Capacity: around 25 people)

*If there are free seats, people without reservations will be admitted on the day. Check the official Instagram account for the latest information.
*Admission may be restricted if the venue is crowded.
*Please note the event will be recorded on the day for project operations and publicity purposes.
*This event will be run with measures in place to prevent the transmission of coronavirus (COVID-19).
