Philosophy Cafe 04: 2nd “How do you want to live?”

Genre:
  • Art Project ,
  • Others

At the 1st Philosophy Café event held on October 1st as a parallel program to the exhibition “A Certain Window,” we talked about the theme “Living in this Town,” and learned that the way people perceive the concept of “this town” differs from person to person. It seems the concept is connected to one’s intentions and feelings, the time one has spent there, what one has shared and with whom, and other considerations. The discussion also raised questions like “what connections or relationships make life easier?”, “what different modes of living are there?”, and “what constitutes one’s “furusato” (hometown)?”
For the 2nd event, we put our heads together to think about with whom, where, and how we would like to live, and why our thoughts turn to this particular mode of living.

What is Philosophy Cafe?

This is a forum for participants to discuss and think together about things they usually take for granted or consider the norm, and things that have lately caught their interest. We drink tea and take our time expressing our thoughts and ideas anew; listening to what other participants have to say; and developing our personal thoughts and ideas through dialog.
