The AKITEN project aims to create unique and distinctive areas in the community by utilizing vacant premises and land in Hachioji. To date, AKITEN has brought art galleries, farmers markets, and other distinctively local content into vacant premises, using the power of art and design to showcase the city to local residents and outsiders alike. In FY2015, we will firmly establish the AKITEN mechanism in this community and utilize its vacant premises with an even wider range of community partners.
