Baobab “UMU” Tanzmesse Tour

  • Organization : Baobab
  • Section : International project
  • Type of Grant Program : Single
  • Art Forms : Dance

Outline

Due to concerns over the outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19) and in consideration of the health and safety of participants and staff members, this program was canceled.

Wataru Kitao’s Baobab was invited to the world’s largest contemporary dance fair, internationale tanzmesse nrw, to perform the troupe’s repertory piece “UMU,” and was set on maximizing this opportunity with a tour. The invitation was seen as a valuable opportunity not only for Baobab, but for the next-generation dance artists comprising the tour members. Not only would they perform the work but also intended to experience all that the international networking event had to offer by proactively taking part in meetings and seeing performances of other works. However, due to coronavirus internationale tanzmesse nrw was canceled, and Baobab was unable to go ahead with its “UMU” tanzmesse tour.
