  • Organization : Asagi Kimura
  • Section : Artistic and creative activity in Tokyo
  • Type of Grant Program : Single Individual
  • Art Forms : Visual Art / Media Art

Outline

Together with a screening of the Asagi Kimura-directed feature-length film “HIZUME” made in 2017, this event will feature poetry reading by Yu Ishizuka who starred in “HIZUME,” and a screening of Mizuho Otagiri’s “Golden,” a documentary evoking a floating island. Inside the venue will be a display chronicling a self-portrait project undertaken by Kimura from the completion of “HIZUME” to the present and aimed at communication with the cinematographer through her own body, along with a display of related poetry. In addition, the photographs have been put together in booklet form with editing by designer Kayano Higuchi. This was an attempt by the director to reorient the relationship between the film itself and the emotional changes she experienced over an interval of five years in relation to the film from the present time.

Profile

【Asagi Kimura】
A filmmaker based in Tokyo and Okinawa. I have used narrative as a medium to construct a relationship with my own body and family, and have presented this phenomenon using video and poetry. My new feature project “Your Hair Is Come From Blue Green Fruits” won the Talents Tokyo Award 2021. Currently, I am interested in the change of “voice” depending on one’s state of mind, and as one of my experiments, I am distributing readings on the podcast ”The last story for tonight”.
