I performed “TOUCH,” a double bass solo piece with electronics, in a concert of works by P. Jodlowski. This work was commissioned by me on the theme of the limits of solo performance, and premiered in Shizuoka in September 2022, with this performance being the European premiere. The manipulation of electronics is considered part of the performance, making this a magnificent work that forces the performer to question “what is a performance” and “to what extent is it a solo performance” The performance was presented in its complete form after two days of intence rehearsals under the composer’s supervision, including lighting and sound effects. The aim is to present the new possibilities of contrabass solo performance to the world and to gain wide recognition of its artistry.

Double bass performer. He is actively involved in contemporary works and improvisation. Pursuing new musical expression through solo performance, he gives solo performances with elaborate programs of solo pieces from baroque to contemporary, as well as experimental music of his own composition.
Born in Kakegawa City, Shizuoka Prefecture. In September 2022, his performance of only contemporary works for solo contrabass was selected as a recommended concert for the 22nd Keizo Saji Award, and was well received. He is active both in Japan and abroad.
