The first in a series of performances offering Renaissance-era secular songs and instrumental pieces with singing and viola da gamba consort. In the Renaissance era an abundance of secular songs and instrumental ensemble music was composed and performed: for this series, Fons Floris selected and introduced particularly appealing songs from among these works.
The concert also featured so-called intabulations, arrangements of vocal pieces for lute and keyboard instruments. The aim of the concert was to introduce and help the audience understand the diverse aspects of Renaissance music through an enjoyable program with diverse instrumentation and arrangement. During the concert Tetsuro Hanai and the musicians provided commentary on the works.
