We have produced a documentary video on Sekkyo-joruri Wakamatsu Wakatayu the third, entitled “ichikoenihusi-no-waza.”
With only a shamisen and his own voice, Sekkyo-joruri Wakamatsu Wakatayu the third’s poignant performances bring tears to the eyes of his audiences.
What is the quality of “ichikoenihusi” that Wakatayu aspires to in his Sekkyo?
Find out in his joint performances with artists including traditional Japanese dancer Fukiko Bando and Koryu Nishikawa the fifth iemoto of Hachioji Kuruma Ningyo.

Wakamatsu Wakatayu the third (Takao Komine)
His introduction to Sekkyo-joruri came when he was impressed by a performance by Wakamatsu Wakatayu the second in 1989. In 1998 he assumed the professional name Wakamatsu Wakatayu the third. In 2000 he was given the status of Tokyo Metropolitan Government designated Intangible Cultural Property (Performing arts), and Itabashi Ward registered Intangible Cultural Property in the field of Sekkyo joruri. He lives in Sayama City in Saitama Prefecture.
